The Korean American Association of Chicago, established in 1962, is the official representing body, and the voice of the Korean American community. Its foremost purpose is ensuring the welfare of the Korean Americans, and the Korean American community in Chicagoland. While the association promotes unity within the community, it introduces and increases the awareness of Korean culture to other ethnic groups within US. The association works as the information center to the Korean American community, providing necessary counsel, regarding US culture, economy, education system, social services, and politics. The association bridges Korean American community to the mainstream US society and businesses, promotes the City of Chicago to Korea, and furthermore contributes in increasing public relations between US and Korea.
